The concept results from the belief that a contemporary, autonomous form can harmoniously coexist with the historical context and become a full-fledged complement to the existing landscape. As an artistic object functioning in a collection, but at the same time a separate one, this form should have the features of a new, characteristic sign that, together with the existing elements, will enrich the architectural and spatial code of this part of Gdańsk. The location of the new drawbridge is in the place where the historic Main Town turned into the once closed areas of the shipyard and port with their industrial character. Referring to this, supported by the European Solidarity Center and the Museum of the Second World War, Genius Loci, we proposed a footbridge formed in the spirit of a “shipyard object” built of Corten steel and glass.
